John Maynard Keynes is often regarded as the most influential economist of the 20th century and the saviour of modern capitalism.
The Oxford American Dictionary says Keynes (1883-1946) “laid the foundations of modern macroeconomics“.
The BBC refers to him as “the most influential economist of the 20th century“.
The Nobel Prize winning economist Paul Krugman said Keynes “came to save capitalism […] There has been nothing like Keynes’ achievements in the annals of social sciences”.
Peter Drucker said Keynes was “the real father of neoconservatism”.
He is often considered “the saviour of capitalism” (for example by Nobel Prize winning economist Joseph Stiglitz or the director of the Laurentian International Economic Policy Institute Louis-Philippe Rochon).
So why did he say that capitalism should end?
